Visionary Voices: Inspiring Leadership at Pointe Larue Secondary
As students gathered to mark the Seychelles National Youth Assembly (SNYA) election campaign, the atmosphere at Pointe Larue Secondary was inspiring.
The campaign was only one aspect of the event; it served as a potent reminder of the part that youth play in determining the course of the country's future leaders. The assembly area became a portal for students who wanted to lead, inspire, and change the world—four students took their chances to deliver their speeches.

gave a "fatherly motivating speech" to begin the assembly, highlighting the importance of young involvement in governance. The head teacher reminded the students that leadership is about responsibilities more than titles. This statement established the event's tone and reaffirmed the notion that all students, regardless of age, had the capacity to affect change.
Candidates for seats in the SNYA came forward one by one to share their thoughts. Every speech addressed topics of student involvement, reflecting the mission, vision, and goals of the school.

Ensuring that every student has a voice and a space to contribute to conversations that impact their education and well-being was a recurrent subject in the speeches. Candidates freely voiced their concerns and were clearly passionate about real change.
The assembly taught a practical lesson in democracy. Students listened attentively and considered which candidate best reflected their values and needs. In addition to choosing a representative, the procedure aimed to encourage civic engagement and demonstrate to students the importance of their decisions.
